 Network marketing on the internet is big business these days.

And as with any business building endeavor, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.  Although there are many paths to success when using the internet to build your home business, there are definitely some solid “do’s” and “don’ts” that you should pay attention to if you’re serious about building a profitable organization.

In order to improve your chances of success in network marketing and to help you avoid some common pitfalls, I’m going to share these pretty universal “do’s” and “don’ts” here in this article.  Let’s start with a short list of the network marketing “Do’s”:

Do your research on the network marketing company you choose before enrolling as a distributor. Do choose a company with products or services that you can be passionate about using and sharing.  Make a commitment to actively work your home business for at least a year.

Do make certain the team you join has a proven system already in place along with excellent support, not only for your sake, but for your future downline as well.

Do put your ‘why’ and your goals in writing. Having a clear and powerful ‘why’ for building your network marketing business that you can review every day will help you to stay the course when things get tough.  Your specific, measurable goals will ensure that you are making progress and on the right track.

Do work with your upline in putting together a plan of action designed to meet daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals.  Make sure you are accountable to someone for following this action plan.

Do treat your home business like you would a traditional business that you have invested 50, 100 or even 500k in just to get started.  If you do, I guarantee you that the potential financial rewards from your network marketing business far surpass that of any traditional business hands down.

Now that we’ve laid a good foundation with our “do” list, let’s move on to some important “don’ts” of network marketing:

Don’t try to explain everything about your home business when inviting someone to view a presentation.  Invite them, set a follow-up time, and say good-bye. In other words, don’t day too much. Let the presentation do the talking for you.

Don’t come across as salesy or try to convince people that they should join you in building a home business.  If you come across as a salesman, they
will think they have to be a salesman, and most people hate to sell.  If you have to convince them to join your network marketing company, then you will have to convince them every day to do what is needed to build their business. So not worth it!

Don’t expect to be making big bucks in your first three months in your home business.  While I’ve seen people earning 20k a month in their first six months, that’s not the rule.  That kind of income usually requires persistent, consistent action. So make sure you can cover your monthly autoship and any other business expenses for at least your first three months.

Don’t give up!  Don’t quit!  Stick to whatever time frame you originally committed to before you even think about throwing in the towel.  No other industry in the world can give you the huge financial rewards with so little start up costs like network marketing can.  But only if you stay committed, focused, and take daily action.
